Threedimensional Wiesbaden in Google Earth now even better
(2009-02-18)

Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden The first update and enlargement of the data gives "Wiesbaden 3D" in Google Earth a new quality after a year being online. "Wiesbaden 3D" is a cooperation between the municipality of Wiesbaden and GTA Geoinformatik.

3D buildings with exact roof types are available for large parts of the city. Characteristic roof types are important for architecture and urban planning.

Facade colouring and the 3D presentation of trees were improved and updated. Deciduous trees and conifers can now be differentiated. New are also "points of interest", "Wiesbaden – city of historism" "commercial zones" and "urban development projects".

From the beginning Wiesbaden's land surveying office attached great importance to geometrically exact and accurate 3D buildings. Now
www.wiesbaden.de/3d is an excellent basis for architects, planners, investors and other interested parties. The data are available at Wiesbaden's land surveying office.

GTA Geoinformatik GmbH signs contract to model 32 textured 3D city models and 600 3D Landmarks in North America
(2008)

After the great success and the intensive use (for instance on the Sony Playstation Portable) of the 3D City Models produced for Tele Atlas already in 2007, Tele Atlas and GTA move further ahead: in 2008 32 cities in the USA and Canada will be modeled. They will be enhanced with GTA's parametric texturing technology which is currently unique world wide. This year's expansion of Tele Atlas 3D data coverage is completed by the production of 600 high quality Landmarks. This way, Tele Atlas strengthens its position as provider of 3D City Models for navigation that are superior to competition in quality and coverage.

Through acquisition of this contract, GTA Geoinformatik GmbH again proved its international market and technology leadership.

Intergeo 2008
(2008-10)

From September 30th to October 2nd, 2008, Bremen hosted the world's largest conference and trade fair for geodesy, land management, and geoinformation at the Trade Exhibition Centre of Bremen. This event attracted more than 15.000 visitors together with delegates from over 50 countries. Bremen's INTERGEO 2008 was the biggest assembly from the various industry sectors this year with the exhibition hall hosting approximately 500 companies.

The INTERGEO 2008 showed again a high development of this sector and integration of very different areas e.g.: environment protection, flood control, polar research and the setup of geo related data structures. For GTA Geoinformatik, the INTERGEO was an important possibility to maintain contacts with many customers, competition analysis, contract conclusions and was also of a great importance for market positioning.

Many interesting conversations were carried out with both established and new customers from various areas e.g.: cities and municipalities, internet and media, navigation and photogrammetry.

The emphasis was put on following products and services:

  • virtual 3D city maps for city planning
  • software systems for analysis and visualisation of 3D city maps
  • 3D applications

The INTERGEO 2009 will take place in Karlsruhe from 22nd – 24th of September.
